Whipped Shortbread Cookies

I decided to start some holiday baking today, and thought I would start with shortbread cookies. I have not make shortbread cookies before, but have enjoyed some that were gifted to us in the past during the Christmas Season. I decided to attempt them today since I had all the ingredients.


  • 1 cup softened butter
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup icing sugar
  • maraschino cherries (if desired)


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Place softened butter in a bowl, whip with a hand mixer for a minute
  3. Add flour 1/2 cup at a time, whipping after each addition until well incorporated
  4. Add the icing sugar and whip again for about 5 minutes
  5. Place by teaspoonfuls on cookie sheets. Decorate with maraschino cherries
  6. Bake in oven for 11-12 minutes, or until bottoms are lightly browned

These cookies are so easy to make and are a buttery goodness cookie. :)
