I made several newborn photography wraps in the hopes of using them in some newborn sessions. They were really easy to make and here is how I did it.
First you will need supplies
- 2 yards of cheesecloth per wrap
- RIT dye
- Metal spoon for stirring
- Rubber gloves
- Mess laundry bag
First fill your bucket with warm water. I filled my about 1/4 full.
I then placed my first 2 yards of cheesecloth in the warm water.
I then add my liquid RIT dye. (You can do this with the powder form of RIT dye but you will need to dissolve the powder before adding the cheesecloth). I did not measure my dye, I just added it to the water until I saw the desired color I wanted.
You will then need to stir the water and you will need to stir every 5 minutes up to 20-30minutes. Once the cheesecloth reaches the desired color you want, you then will need to rinse the dye out of the cloth under cold water until the water runs clear.
You will then need to hang dry the cloth and let it dry completely before washing it. I just hung my on my shower curtain rod.
Once the cloth is dry, you will then need to wash the wrap in the mess laundry bag in cold water using free and gentle soap. You can either dry it on low heat in the dryer or hang dry it again. I hung dried mine.
Here are the colors I did.
I did a few more today.
